ZTE Axon 40 Ultra Space Edition debuts with 18GB RAM

The Android gang made significant hardware upgrades in recent years and raised the numbers in hardware. For example, the RAM amount of smartphones can easily break the 16 GB barrier which is astonishing. Even by today’s standards, we believe that 6 GB or 8 GB is more than adequate for your everyday tasks and even for some gaming sessions. However, the numbers are one of the appeals that most Android makers use to make their device shine in the sea of competition. Today, as expected, ZTE is introducing its super-special ZTE Axon 40 Ultra Space Edition and it is everything hardware lovers waited for. It brings 18 GB of RAM and 1 TB of Internal Storage. That’s more than an average computer.

ZTE Axon 40 Ultra Space Edition features

The design is slightly different from the regular ZTE Axon 40 Ultra. The Space Edition brings ceramic material at the rear. Moreover, there are some changes in the camera bump. Instead of a discrete island, it now blends smoothly into the back. The ceramic has been created in a special mold to create a special texture on the surface. Everything seems to be “Special” in this phone.

Gizchina News of the week

Just like the regular ZTE Axon 40 Ultra, the Space Edition brings a dedicated security chip. It has been developed by ZTE, and we’re pretty sure that some US authorities will not find it secure. Anyway, it passed national commercial encryption testing. It also got three major international security and privacy certifications. The phone boasts a 6.8-inch AMOLED screen with a 120 Hz refresh rate and a 16 MP under-display camera. Under the hood, we have the regular SD 8 Gen 1 SoC with a 5,000 mAh battery. The charging speed is also higher, from 60W to 80W. The camera system brings the same three 64 MP sensors.

The Ultra Space Edition is up for pre-order in China. The actual sales will begin on December 6. Unfortunately, we don’t think there is much hope for international enthusiasts. This amazing piece of hardware will, most likely, remain limited to the Chinese audience. There are two options for the phone – 12GB/512GB which costs CNY 5,900 ($825) and 18GB/1TB which costs CNY 7,700 ($1,075).

The ZTE Axon 40 Ultra Space is a very appealing phone, but it is something that global customers can’t get. Also, the only downside is the use of the vanilla Snapdragon 8 Gen 1. The Snapdragon 8+ Gen 1 would be much more appreciated, especially now that the first Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 phones are popping out.
