Instead, the device just randomly popped up in the Huawei Mall, the brand’s official online store. Now, the Huawei Mate X5 has made an appearance in the mall.

Yes, the successor to the Huawei Mate X4 is now official, and you can pre-order it right now. Although, Huawei has not officially disclosed the pricing information on its official online store. But to pre-order it, you need to make a 1000 yuan deposit, which is around $136.

Huawei has put most of the information regarding the Mate X5 in its official online store. But everything is in Chinese, which is pretty much expected as Huawei Mall is exclusive to the Chinese market. However, you don’t need to get your translation skills ready to know all about the phone. Here are the main highlights:

Display Setup

On the outside, you’ll find a 6.4-inch OLED screen. It boasts a 2504 x 1080p resolution with an aspect ratio of 20:9:9. The screen also features a 120Hz LTPO adaptive refresh rate, which gives a fluid user experience.

Internal Screen Mate X5

In addition, the external display of the Mate X5 features a 1440Hz high-frequency PWM dimming. More importantly, the device comes with a lightning-fast 300Hz touch sampling rate.

Regarding the internal screen of the Huawei Mate X5, it’s 7.85 inches in size. It features a screen resolution of 2492 x 2224p and boasts a 120Hz LTPO adaptive refresh rate. Like the external screen, the internal display features 1440Hz PWM dimming, offering the best possible brightness depending on the light around you.

Both the screen of the Mate X5 has support for 1.07 billion colors, offering a true-to-life image. Also, there’s support for a P3 wide color gamut, making each image on the screen look vibrant and detail-rich. When it comes to the dimensions, the Mate X5 folds into a compact form, which measures 156.99 x 72.4 x 11.08 mm. And in the unfolded state, the X5 measures 156.9 x 141.5 x 5.3 mm. In terms of weight, the Vegan leather model is around 243 grams, while the Sand color options are about 245 grams.

Camera Configuration

Huawei didn’t compromise one bit in terms of the camera configuration of the Mate X5. On the back, the device comes packed with a 50MP super-perception primary camera. The primary sensor is accompanied by a 13MP ultra-wide angle sensor and a 12MP periscope telephoto sensor.

For handling selfies and video calls, the Huawei Mate X5 comes with an 8MP camera on the internal screen and another 8MP sensor on the external screen. The cameras of the device have 2D face recognition, which works even when you’re wearing a mask. Also, they have support for OIS/AIS stabilization, allowing you to get stable and smooth videos.

Even though there’s no official information regarding the chipset of the Huawei Mate X5, it’s likely Kirin 9000S. After all, the phone is releasing pretty much alongside the Mate 60 Pro. The Mate X5 has 50W fast wireless charging support for those who prefer wireless charging instead. And it can also do reverse wireless charging at 7.5W. That should come in handy when you need to charge your wireless earphones or other small devices.
